A Venmo Split alternative
for the math, not the payment.

Venmo handles payments well in the US. The hard part is deciding how much each person owes when one ordered the salad and another ordered the steak. RightSplit does that math first: scan the receipt, tap who had what, and tax and tip are divided per person. Then each person gets a message with their amount and a link to pay you by Venmo, PayPal.me, Revolut, Wise, IBAN, or Apple Pay.

How does RightSplit compare to Venmo's split feature?

They do different jobs. Venmo moves money; RightSplit decides how much each person owes before the money moves.

What it does
RightSplit: Works out each person's total from a scanned receipt, item by item, and sends it with a pay link. It never moves money itself.

Venmo Split: Splits one payment between Venmo friends and sends them payment requests.
Item-level fairness
RightSplit: Yes, with Pro+. Each person pays for what they ordered, plus their share of any dishes they shared.

Venmo Split: Works from the total you enter; it doesn't read the receipt or assign items to people.
Geography
RightSplit: Reads receipts in 16 languages on the device and splits in 58 currencies. Pay links cover Venmo, PayPal.me, Revolut, Wise, IBAN, and Apple Pay; which ones work depends on the region.

Venmo: US-only.
Does the group need accounts?
RightSplit: No. Each person gets a message they can read without installing anything.

Venmo: Yes, every recipient needs a Venmo account.

Use them together?

Yes. Save your Venmo handle in RightSplit, scan the receipt, and tap who had what. Each person's message carries a Venmo link with their amount, and with Pro+ a Live Activity on your Lock Screen counts people off as they pay. The payment habit stays the same, and the numbers behind it match what everyone ordered.

Who should pick RightSplit vs Venmo Split?

Pick RightSplit (and still use Venmo) if…
  • Your group's bills aren't fair to split equally
  • You want shared dishes divided only among the people who shared them
  • Some people at the table aren't on Venmo (outside US, or Apple Pay-only)
  • You want the receipt and everyone's names to stay on your phone
  • You'd rather pay once ($7.99) than subscribe
Just use Venmo Split if…
  • Your group always splits equally and that's already fair
  • You're all in the US and all on Venmo already
  • You don't want a separate app for the math step
  • The orders are similar enough that an equal split is close enough

About RightSplit

Questions

FAQ

Is RightSplit a Venmo alternative?
Not directly. Venmo is a payment app and RightSplit is a bill-splitting calculator: RightSplit works out each person's amount, item by item, and Venmo or another service moves the money. Each person's message carries a tap-to-pay link for the method you saved, whether that is Venmo, PayPal.me, Revolut, Wise, IBAN, or Apple Pay.
Does RightSplit integrate with Venmo?
Through links, and RightSplit never moves money itself. Save your Venmo handle (or PayPal.me, Revolut, Wise, your IBAN, or Apple Pay), and Send Payment Requests writes one message per person with the place, their exact amount, and a link that opens that service. Send it by Messages or WhatsApp, or copy it. A link can't confirm that a payment arrived, so you mark people paid yourself.
Why not use Venmo's split feature directly?
Venmo's split works from one total and the friends you pick on Venmo. RightSplit covers the dinner where the orders differ: it reads the receipt, lets you tap who had each item, divides shared dishes among the people who shared them, and divides tax and tip per person. You can still collect through Venmo afterwards, and friends who aren't on Venmo can use another link.
