A Splitwise alternative
for the receipt, not the running tab.
Splitwise is built for ongoing balances between flatmates and partners. RightSplit covers the other case: you're at dinner, the check has 14 items, and you want to settle it before you leave. You scan the receipt, tap who had what, and everyone gets a message with their amount and a tap-to-pay link. Nobody else at the table has to sign up for anything.
How does RightSplit compare to Splitwise?
They do different jobs. Splitwise is a shared ledger the whole group keeps over time, and RightSplit settles one bill fairly on the spot.
Workflow
RightSplit: Scan the receipt, tap who had each item, and send everyone their amount with a pay link, in one sitting.
Splitwise: Add an expense to a group, track the running balance, and settle later.

Splitting by item
RightSplit: Tap who had each item; a shared dish is divided among the people who shared it, and tax and tip are divided per person. Your first receipt scan is free; unlimited scans and item splits are Pro+.
Splitwise: Equal split by default; itemizing a scanned receipt is part of Splitwise Pro.

Account requirement
RightSplit: None. Nobody in the group needs an account, and receipts, amounts, and names stay on your iPhone. See the transparency entry.
Splitwise: Accounts required for sync; group members need an account to participate.

Ongoing balances
RightSplit: On your phone only. Pro+ Spaces keep balances for a trip or shared home and work out the fewest transfers to settle up, with no sync to the rest of the group.
Splitwise: Yes. The shared ledger is the core feature.

Pick RightSplit if…
- Your splits are mostly one-off: dinners out, weekend trips, group brunches

- You don't want everyone in the group to need an account
- You want the app to send each person their amount with a link to pay you
- You want the receipt photo and everyone's names to stay on your phone
Stick with Splitwise if…
- You have ongoing shared expenses (rent, utilities, household items) that everyone logs from their own phone
- You and your group rely on the running-balance feature
- You want multi-currency expense tracking the whole group shares long-term
- You already use Splitwise Pro features such as receipt scanning and charts
About RightSplit
Questions
FAQ
What is the best Splitwise alternative for one-off bills?
RightSplit is an iPhone alternative to Splitwise for one-off bills: dinners, nights out, and trips. You scan the receipt, tap who had each item (shared dishes included), and Send Payment Requests writes one message per person with their exact amount and a tap-to-pay link for Venmo, PayPal.me, Revolut, Wise, IBAN, or Apple Pay. There is no account, and only the person holding the phone needs the app. Splitting by item is part of Pro+.
Does RightSplit upload my receipt photos?
No. On an iPhone with Apple Intelligence turned on (iOS 26 or later on an eligible iPhone), Apple Intelligence reads the receipt on the device. Every other iPhone uses an on-device scanner built on Apple's text recognition. The photo and the items never leave your phone, and there is no cloud sync.
Can RightSplit handle ongoing group balances like Splitwise?
Partly. With Pro+, a Space (a trip, a shared flat, or split subscriptions) collects receipts and expenses with who paid each one, keeps each person's balance, and works out the fewest transfers to settle up. Recurring bills remind you to log them. A Space lives on your phone only, with no accounts and no sync, so your flatmates can't add expenses or check the balance themselves. If everyone needs to log and see a running tab over months, Splitwise's shared ledger is the right tool. RightSplit suits the dinner, the trip, or the holiday grocery run, kept by the person holding the phone.
Does RightSplit require accounts for everyone in the group?
No. Nobody needs an account. You type the names of the people at the table, and each person gets their amount as a message by Messages or WhatsApp, or you copy it into any other app.
