Before you email
- Update to the latest version from the App Store; many fixes ship there first.
- If you subscribed to a paid tier, you can manage or cancel it in Settings → your name → Subscriptions on iPhone or iPad, or in the App Store app on Mac.
- Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
- Shogiful has no sign-up and no Lagerland account, so there is no password to reset or account to recover.
Common Shogiful questions
Can I play shogi without knowing kanji?
Yes. Shogiful has three piece styles: Traditional (kanji), International (kanji with arrows that show how each piece moves), and Chess (chess-style pieces with no kanji). You can switch between them any time in Settings. Tap a piece and every legal move and drop is highlighted, and moves can be written in Western notation such as P-7f.
Can I import my games from Shogi Wars or 81Dojo?
Yes, as KIF files. Go to Settings, then Data & Privacy, then Import KIF, and import from a file, the clipboard, or pasted text, in UTF-8 or Shift-JIS. You see a preview with the players, handicap, and move count before you import. Imported games are reviewed like any other game, from the Sente side, and the review counts toward the free 2 analyses a day.
Does Shogiful work offline?
Yes, for everything you do with shogi. Playing, analysis, training, and review run on the device with a built-in engine. Buying or restoring Premium and Game Center need a connection.
Is Shogiful free? What does Premium cost?
Shogiful is free to download, and playing is never limited: all 40 opponents, unlocked as you win, with all piece styles and the 3D board. The free version includes 2 game analyses, 3 training puzzles, and 2 coach hints a day, 381 tsume problems, and 31 lessons. Premium removes the daily limits and opens Deep Lines, all 501 tsume problems, every drill, all 80 lessons, and the Skill Profile and Weakness Trends. It costs $1.99/month or $9.99/year, each with a 7-day free trial, or $19.99 once for lifetime access. Family Sharing is included. Prices in USD; the App Store shows your local currency at checkout.
Does Shogiful need an account?
No. There is no sign-up and no Shogiful account. Your games, analysis, and training history are stored on your device. Game Center is optional, and purchases go through your Apple Account.
Can I play against other people in Shogiful?
No. Every game is against Shogiful's 40 opponents, which run from a gentle beginner to master level and unlock as you beat them. For ranked games against people, use Shogi Wars, Lishogi, or 81Dojo, and import those games as KIF to review them in Shogiful.
